Rodrigo y Gabriela - Austin City Limits and Tour Review

With Rodrigo y Gabriela's last album, Area 52, released in January 2012 and their world tour well underway, the Yamaha NX-playing duo have announced that on May 7th they will perform live with the C.U.B.A to tape an episode for the legendary Austin City Limits TV show.
Their first recorded collaboration with another group of musicians, Area 52 sees Rod y Gab revisiting and reinterpreting 9 of their compositions with C.U.B.A - a thirteen-piece orchestra featuring some of Havana's hottest young musicians. In their own words this is 'Rodrigo y Gabriela as you've never heard us before...'.

Austin City Limits is an American music TV program recorded in Austin, TX. Originally created to celebrate the music of Texas, including western swing, Texas blues, Tejano and progressive country, the show has expanded to feature regional, national and international artists performing in a wide range of genres including jazz, alt-country, alt-rock and folk.
The longest running music television program in history, Austin City Limits has been airing constantly since 1976 and is the only TV show to receive the National Medal of Arts, an US Congressional honour created to honour artists and patrons of the arts on behalf of the people of the USA (other laureates include Quincy Jones, Bob Dylan, Clint Eastwood, Les Paul, Ron Howard, Kirk Douglas, James Earl Jones, BB King, Ella Fitzgerald and Frank Capra). ACL was also recognised as one of the world's top 10 most influential music programmes by Time Magazine and has featured everyone from Willie Nelson to BB King and Foo Fighters.
